Assistants Accountant / Office Administrator

Phagenesis Limited is a Manchester based medical device company working at the cutting edge of therapeutic neuroscience medicine and has developed unique electromedical products to treat swallowing dysfunction arising from brain injury. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Assistant accountant / Office Adminstrator to work in our small, friendly team.

Reporting to the CFO, the chosen candidate will be working in finance department managing purchase ledger, staff expenses, sales ledger and VAT reporting in complex multi-currency group structure. The role will also include some month end reconciliation and journal entry to assist CFO. In addition, the candidate will have responsibility of a smooth running of the office, including receiving telephone calls and visitors, providing office supplies and services.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in small teams and have some accounting experience in multi-currency business. This role could be full or part time (minimum 25 hrs per week) and would ideally suit a person with at least 3 years of experience in small company finance department and/or be actively studying towards accounting qualification (AAT, CIMA, ACCA).

Experience and knowledge should ideally include the following:

1) 3+ years experience in small company finance department or actively studying towards accounting qualification with minimum 1 year accounting experience.

2) Advanced Excel user.

3) Worked in multi-currency environment.

4) Previous use of Sage 50 accounts.

5) Experience in medical device company.

The role is based at the Phagenesis’ office in Manchester Science Park in the heart of the University and Hospital campus areas.
