James Horne is currently recruiting for an Assistant Technician to be based within Finished Product QC for a pharmaceutical company focussed on the design and technical support of advanced coating systems, modified release technologies and functional excipients for pharmaceutical dosage forms. They are committed to providing the best-in-class pharmaceutical products and services to support all phases of solid dose design and development, along with superior technical support dedicated to meeting their customers' needs. Based on the London / Kent border and commutable from London this role is offered on a full time permanent basis with a salary c£19,000 + 17.5% shift.

The role will involve the Quality Control testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished products, to internal GMP guidelines and the manufacture of testing materials and reagents. You will be expected to keep good and safe housekeeping of your work area and to work with other team members to provide flexible cover, as and when required. You will also support continuous process improvements to optimise departmental flow, plant, capacity and man hour's efficiency while contributing to improvement projects.

You are required to have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
A good general education, including 5 or more GCSEs (or equivalent). This must include Maths, English and Science. This position requires the ability to work under pressure, good organisational skills and ability to adapt to changing work priorities.  The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and be able to work within a small team environment under limited supervision.  Previous laboratory experience is desirable, along with good general computer skills.

You must be willing to work a rotating shift pattern ( Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm & 1:50pm to 10pm (finishing at 8.30pm on Friday))
