Local Builder in Dorset - Assistant Site Manager

Exciting opportunity for an Assistant Site Manager to join the small works division of established Dorset based developer / contractor.

Your new company
A local and successful family run contractor who have established their organisation having successfully built for over 70 years. The organisation take on a variety of commercial and residential refurbishment and new build projects and then manage this as part of their property portfolio. This includes retail shops, supermarkets, residential houses & flats as well as industrial units. The small works division as a part of the group managers a variety of planned and reactive maintenance projects for clients and tenants as well as larger private new builds and refurbishments up to £500,000. Small works team currently consists of 3 carpenters, 1 plumber with other trades sub-contracted out. They division turnover £1.5million at present.

Your new role
As part of the small works division you will overseeing a variety of projects managing a team of trades. This will involve visiting sites, enforcing health and safety, dealing with RAMS etc. In general you will be maintaining the commercial and residential property portfolio ensuring all PPM and reactive maintenance issues are dealt with. The organisation are looking to increase the small works division. Part of this is within the private works. You will need to be pro-active, developing new business opportunities, estimating and quoting on projects and then winning projects with local clients to complete larger refurbishment and new build extensions. The projects will be up to the value of £500,000 in value this part of the role will help to grow the profitability of the division.

What you'll need to succeed
As this is a customer facing role you should be able to communicate clearly and politely at all times and should be able to demonstrate their overall knowledge of the building processes required for each individual project. You should process the skills to command and lead, challenge and enhance a team of highly qualified and able trades and gain the respect of all. You should be proficient in excel and Microsoft based software as well as being able to understand project constraints and budgets and be able to keep to deadlines.

A key requirement will be longevity the business are looking for someone who will grow into the role and progress and be a key valued member of the team long term. This is an exciting progressive position, with plenty of scope to grow and advance with the role.
