Assistant Relationship Manager - Real Estate Finance

The Bank:

Our client is a well-funded and capitalised UK Bank that offers straightforward business banking. Established over 60 years ago they are truly challenging the big banks nationally and giving businesses a flexible alternative option for their funding requirements.

Business Area Summary:

Real Estate Finance is a core and extremely important, growing part of our client’s business. Their focus is on Residential Investment, Residential Development, Commercial Investment and Commercial Development transactions - deal size focus typically between £2m and £50m.

Job Purpose:

  • To project manage the Real Estate Finance deal pipeline through to successful conclusion, keeping all parties updated and proactively chasing progress.

  • To support the REF Relationship Directors to grow the customer base by consistently delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Manage deal execution process, take personal responsibility for ensuring a harmonious customer experience.

  • Ensure that deals are progressed in appropriate timescales, proactively chase internal and external partners to drawdown.

  • Advise the Relationship Director of progress, agree action plan for any issues and execute to take deal to next stage.

  • Working with the RD and liaising with the borrower to fulfil KYC/CRA requirements at the outset of the transaction.

  • Obtaining professional quotes for legal, monitoring surveyor and valuation services, instructing professional services to act on behalf of the Bank.

  • Present all conditions precedent for sign off by Relationship Director and Credit, demonstrate attention to detail, highlight issues, aspire to 100% Right First Time.

  • Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines, assist other team members during peak periods. Adopt a "Team REF" approach.

  • Identify, assess and escalate all risks and ensure compliance with internal Policies and external regulations (including Customer Due Diligence, Records Management, Information Security, Complaints, Anti-Bribery and Corruption.)

  • Collating information necessary to facilitate tranche drawdowns and presenting the information in a timely manner to the RD/RM.

  • Liaising with borrower, professional panel, finance in respect of repayments and security releases (procuring the necessary information and presenting to the RD for submission to credit.)

  • Work collaboratively with the Relationship Team, Operations and Credit to deliver a 1st class service to the customer base.

  • Maintain accurate records relating to the portfolio to ensure data quality / MI reporting remains robust. (Sword Apak, I-Drive, Onesource Spreadsheet)

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Experience of UK Real Estate Finance within the Financial Services Industry.

  • Background of high performance in a Real Estate Finance support environment, exceptional customer service essential.

  • Strong prioritisation skills and proven track record in working under pressure.

  • A-level or Banking Qualification.
