Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Randstad are currently recruiting, on behalf of our client, a global service provider in the construction, property and engineering sector.

An Assistant Surveyor to join our QS team working on a range of infrastructure projects. The role will provide effective surveying assistance to senior and team colleagues as directed to ensure that a high level of technical, financial and commercial control is maintained on projects.

You will also working as part of a multidisciplinary team undertaking feasibility studies, design, planning, procurement and undertake construction stage cost management.

Experience and Qualifications:

* HNC, HND, BSc/ MSc in Quantity Surveying
* Working towards Chartered (RICS) status
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Software
* 2 to 5 years industry experience
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* MS Office Proficient
* AutoCAD Proficient
* A full driving licence
* Good Planning and organising skills
* Strong time management skills
* Team working

Desirable Requirements:
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Experience in health or building sectors
* Experience of NEC3 Project Management
* Programming (MS Project or similar)


* Pre-Contract
o Drawing measurements: Taking off and producing budget cost estimates and cost planning. Using systems such as BCIS online, benchmarking with internal data, and pricing data using SPONS
o Tender document production
o Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Work
o Assisting the development of cost plans
o Initial value engineering
o Reviewing tender returns
o Attending design team meetings

* Post- Contract:
o Site visits to review application for payment
o Continuing development of cost plans
o Valuation certificate production
o Reviewing contractor's application for payment
o Analysis of sub-contractor packages with contractor
o Preparation of financial reports during the construction phase
o Final account information: Production for review and issue
o Participate in value engineering workshops and analysis
