Assistant Payroll Manager

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Assistant Payroll Manager who has extensive payroll management experience, supporting the current payroll team on a maternity contract (12 month contract). This role is required to assist in identifying process improvements for the current payroll function whilst maintaining current payroll functionality.

You will have responsibility of working closely with the Payroll team dealing with payroll related duties.

THE ROLE & YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

As this is an contract, as Assistant Payroll Manager, you're responsibilities will include:

  • Coordination and management of the payroll function

  • Providing relevant payroll related reports & information for management and payroll team

  • Providing assistant to ensure smooth payroll processes are maintained and suggest, with possible implementation of improvements

  • Management of any company benefits including liaising with relevant external parties

  • Project management to ensure process improvement

  • Recruit new staff members into the team and review training needs of all direct and indirect reports through formal training and development plans.

  • Manage the service provided and ensure strong working relationships with both internal and external customers such as employees, HMRC and external auditors.

  • Maintain strict controls over Bacs and Payment reconciliations.

  • Support Payroll Manager with 1-2-1's and team management when needed.

EXPERIENCE SOUGHT IN THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

To be considered for this Assistant Payroll Manager position, you need to be available and commit to the full 12 month contract, and come with extensive experience of payroll management at a senior level ideally coupled with a recognised finance qualification and very hands on payroll experience.

You will have extensive knowledge of payroll systems, excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven project management and man management experience ideally including leading of process improvements coupled with the reviewing and creating of new policies and procedures as required. You will also be able to evidence excellent analytical and numeracy skills.
