Assistant Motor Underwriter
Assistant Motor Underwriter - salary up to £22.000
Barker Munro Recruitment are working with this well-known and established insurer who primarily focus on the Motor & Home Insurance markets. They are going from strength to strength in the UK market and are looking to add an Assistant Motor Underwriter on a 12 month contract to their team in Surrey.
As the Assistant Motor Underwriter you will provide underwriting support for all motor products across all business areas and sites. Reporting to the Underwriting Services Manager you will action renewal reviews on a daily basis to ensure appropriate terms are applied. With authority to reduce rates through premium override you will help retain business to benefit the company. You will help resolve underwriting queries and referrals from operations and claims departments in line with acceptance criteria and refer more complex cases where necessary.
As a key member of the team you will also investigate complaints, undertake analysis of competitor’s products, action referrals from the Fraud Prevention team, participate in handling of police enquiries and action late notified claims work.
You will use your authority to make decisions on acceptability of motor risks, which are outside standard criteria. You should be able to communicate effectively with staff at varying levels of authority and be comfortable working on own initiative.
To be successful in the role of Assistant Motor Underwriter you should have some experience of technical underwriting in an insurance company or broker, be PC literate, have good interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and have clarity of thought and expression.
