As an Assistant Design Engineer you will be tasked with the development of bespoke mechanical related products for the consumer goods and retail market. The company has a global brand but a relatively small development team so the role would best suit a practical Engineer looking for the variety of office based Design, together with Build, Assembly & Test on the shop floor.
Role & Responsibilities:
*Assist in the Mechanical Design process (Using Solidworks), taking products through the full product life cycle from initial conception through to manufacture
*Design and create mechanical component and assembly drawings
*Build and prove prototype and pre-production sub-assemblies
*Build and prove prototype and pre-production units
*Assisting in the specification and sourcing of components
*Assisting in the maintenance of Bills of Materials
*Work with and provide technical support for Electrical Design, Production, Planning departments
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
oExperience in 3D Design, Solidworks is preferential but not essential
oExperience in the design of metalwork. Any plastics or woodwork would be an advantage.
oGood attention to detail and a genuine interest in product development
