Assistant Manager (Bars & Catering Dept) Full Time

Job Summary

  • To assist in the operational management and development of the Students’ Union licensed trade, contributing to the wider business in development of the food offer and events programme, as well as any other revenue generating services
  • To ensure that our customer expectations are exceeded at all times
  • As a member of Edge Hill Students’ Union staff, contribute positively to the achievement of the Students' Union's mission, vision, values and objectives

Responsibilities and Duties

Leadership:

Role model performance standards, behaviours, competencies and expectations to all staff within our venue operations

  • Develop, promote and communicate a customer focused culture

Operational Management:

  • Act as a Duty Manager and personal licence holder for the premises
  • Deliver exceptional levels of service and customer experience
  • Increase revenue by proactively encouraging additional sales within all areas of responsibility and generating a sales culture within the team delivering our experience
  • Oversee and maintain all areas of our beverage offering including stock control, staff overheads and other central costs
  • Assist in the management and development of team members; training, coaching and ensuring they deliver to their true potential
  • Develop an effective working understanding of all, beverage offerings within the service and a working overview of both food and events
  • Communicate positively and effectively with customers and colleagues
  • Set and communicate performance targets for the team
  • Adhere to venue and EHSU guidelines
  • Maintain confidentiality with all customer information
  • Assist in the delivery of submissions to any quality accreditation schemes deemed appropriate for the venue services

Finances and Resources:

  • Maintain accurate financial records as required
  • Work in accordance with the budgets set for the venue
  • Within your work, comply with the Students’ Union financial procedures, including stock management and cash control
  • Be responsible for ensuring the proper and safe operation of equipment
  • Be responsible for the maintenance and care of equipment, fixtures and fittings and fabric of the premises

Health, Safety and Environment:

  • Ensure Health and Safety legislation is adhered to at all times
  • Assist in the management of the environmental impact of venue services by adhering to union policy, good practice and contributing to any accreditation schemes
  • Ensure all areas are clean and tidy at all times

External Liaison, Colleagues & Partners:

  • Work with all EHSU partners and at all times promote EHSU, its members and staff in a positive and professional manner
  • Ensure that all appropriate licences, professional memberships and partnerships are maintained and adhered to, working with partners to achieve success

Other Duties:

  • Work within, promote and uphold the student-led and democratic ethos of the Students’ Union
  • Attend meetings and conferences as required
  • Attend any training courses that fit the organisational objectives of the Students’ Union and that are deemed relevant to your post.
  • Compile reports as required
  • Abide by the Union’s Constitution, Policies and Procedures at all times.
  • Work to high levels of professionalism, integrity, punctuality, accuracy and politeness
  • Handle confidential information sensitively
  • Undertake any other activities commensurate with the grade of the post
