I’m delighted to be working with a reputable well-known multi-site business, the company have 3 offices in Middlesbrough and due to growth they are looking to appoint an Assistant Management Accountant.

You’ll have a real interest in the underlying operation business and possess an analytical mind looking behind the numbers to be best suited, is this you?

You’ll be working within a small management accounts team, with another similar team managing a different areas of the business and team and transactional processing is managed separately.

Don’t be off put by the title of assistant management accountant, you’ll be responsible for producing the management accounts and it’s extremely important that you are not only confident in the production of monthly management accounts, but can also liaise effectively with both Operational Directors and Cost Centre Managers.

You’ll be comfortable and experienced to answer questions, this position is not for a ‘number cruncher’ and you’ll not be tied to your desk.

You’ll be attending many meetings and have the ability to ‘hit the ground running’.

You’ll be able to demonstrate that you can work pro-actively, speak up and ask questions, take accountability, and be the right type of person who can work with non-financial colleagues.

Within the business there are many projects taking place, and you’ll have the opportunity longer term to take secondments within other areas of the business such as systems projects.

This fantastic new job will involve you be accountable for managing quarterly forecasting, and annual budgets for various operational areas.

You’ll be also attending review meetings monthly with operational budget holders giving explanations for resultant and variances to budget / forecasts.

You’ll develop the reporting processes to include enhancement of current KPI report, and you’ll take ownership of reconciliations and the review of various balance sheet accounts.

Are you right for them?...

Ideally you’ll either be a qualified accountant or studying, if you are studying you’ll be supported to do so.

Don’t worry if that’s not you, you’ll not be discounted should you are qualified by experience, it’s all about getting the right person and skills rather than qualification.

Interviews will take place week commencing 5th February, and meetings outside of working hours will be accommodate.

The first meeting will be meeting with the 2 management accountants, one of which will be your manager. Getting to know them and letting them get to know you, all being well a personality and general knowledge test will be sent for you to complete and you'll go back in to meet again, this time meeting with Operational Finance.

This final stage will likely take place week commencing 12th February, and they will move fast for the right person.
