About the area you’ll be working in
From Finance and IT, to Marketing and People (HR) our support functions are the backbone of our UK operations. We may not deal directly with our customers, but we play an absolutely vital role in making sure that our customer-facing teams get all the support they need to deliver the very best service.
What you'll be doing
You will work within the Record to Report team, to maintain the day to day accounting process including a focus on the accounting control and audit of specified business units within the UK MU. You will also produce month end results, work on balance sheet reporting, and forecasting. In addition you will implement and maintain controls, reconciliations, and establish a consistent reporting stream to the UK MU, BU’s, and Corporate Centre.
What’s a typical day?
You will provide support to ensure that all costs are accurately captured in the correct cost centres & projects and assist in the continual development and improvement of the reporting of the costs to the appropriate business managers. You will also assist with costs that are recharged assist in ensuring sufficient information is provided to enable the receiver of the recharge to make informed decisions about the costs they are accountable for. You will be responsible for assisting Cost Centre Controllers at year end and half year end to ensure all significant accruals in relation to cost base have supporting evidence and explanations to both financial accounts and the external auditors in relation to these accruals. Additionally, you will assist with relevant Tagetik submissions, Balance Sheet reconciliations and MIDI / Solvency 2 reporting including tax pack and statutory appendices. You will also provide assistance with process improvements to improve the accuracy and efficiency of month end processes to meet tight Corporate Centre and Bupa UK Deadlines.
Who we’re looking for?
- The jobholder is likely to be a Part-Qualified Account or have significant experience within a finance environment with a cost management focus.
- Analytically and numerically minded.
- Good PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and accountancy software.
- Excellent customer service skills, including communication, management of expectation, recommendations, quality of outputs etc.
- The jobholder will be expected to proactively build and maintain relationships with customers throughout the company.
- Quick to learn and responsive to the needs of the business.
- Proactive with a 'can do’ approach.
- The jobholder will have good commercial skills and the ability to adapt to a new environment quickly.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet stretching and tight deadlines.
