We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the Education sector. We have an excellent opportunity for an Estates and Facilities Lead for a secondary school in Hemel Hempstead. The role will be to oversee the management and development of the school estate and facilities.

£38,000 - £42,000 + Benefits

Temp to Perm (6 months+) with some flexible working

Assistant Facilities Manager / Estates and Facilities Lead’s Core Duties

  • Develop a strategic plan for the school’s estates and facilities
  • Identify opportunities for enhancements and renovations
  • Oversee the daily management of buildings and grounds, ensuring they are safe and secure
  • Monitor all service contracts (inc. cleaning and catering)
  • Coordinate maintenance staff and external vendors to do routine repairs and improvements
  • Develop a maintenance program to prolong the life of the school’s facilities
  • Lead projects from inception to completion (inc. budgeting, planning, and quality control)
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are on time and within budget
  • Support in the development of the budget, monitoring expenses and cost-saving opportunities
  • Prepare financial reports as required
  • Line manage the facilities teams and offer training as required
  • Monitor the Health & Safety policy, including Risk Assessment procedures
  • Comply with building codes, safety regulations, and other statutory requirements
  • Perform regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and emergency drills
  • Maintain the upkeep of the school minibuses

Assistant Facilities Manager / Estates and Facilities Lead’s Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in strategic facilities planning, management, and construction project management
  • Experience within an educational establishment (highly desirable)
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and environmental sustainability practices
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with budgeting and financial management, plus financial data analysis
  • Problem-solving ability and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
