Assistant Designer

Do you have experienced in design? We have registered an opportunity for a confident and hardworking Assistant Designer to join a friendly team within a reputable organisation based in Central Oxford on a Temporary basis.

Job Title: Assistant Designer
Salary: £10.00 - £12.00
Contract:Temporary, 3-6 months
Location:Central Oxford
Start Date: ASAP

Key responsibilities:
*Provide creative design concepts and branding solutions for allocated projects, ensuring appropriate quality of print and digital products
*Support the production of and/or produce prototypes, templates, layouts, covers and screen designs for all components from handover of manuscript to final files ready for print or digital delivery
*Ensure that project schedules are maintained and best-practice project management principles are applied. Identify, manage and communicate any risks to project delivery
*Plan and manage resources in order to deliver allocated projects, maximizing their profitability and effectiveness. Work collaboratively with colleagues to enable flexible resourcing
*Actively participate in peer-to-peer training. Build, maintain and disseminate knowledge of design-related IT developments and identify opportunities
*Ensure legal obligations are met with regard to data security and media rights management for all products. Identify risks and mitigate them in consultation with your manager and the Compliance and Legal teams
*Actively participate in the implementation of systems, processes and practices that will facilitate all aspects of the publishing process, making recommendations to promote efficiencies and support digital-first initiatives

Candidate Specification:
*Desirable- Degree in Design or equivalent
*Professional design experience in publishing is preferable
*Knowledge of pre-press and production techniques
*Advanced knowledge of Macintosh systems and advanced-level knowledge of core design software (Adobe CC)
*Good knowledge of automation techniques
*Experience in creating digital product and an understanding of XML, HTML5, CSS
*Understanding of UI and UX theories as they relate to design solutions is preferable, but not essential
