Working Conditions: Working conditions in Afghanistan are arduous and includes heat and dust, frequently involving much physical exertion and exposure to the elements & aircraft related hazards. Operations will be of a 24 hour nature and may include routine air travel. Accommodation & full messing provided.

The successful candidate will have management and client relations skills. Their experience will include a strong understanding of delivering services to a Military client, HS&E regulations, staff training and Quality Management gained over a substantial period of professional experience.

The principal duties of the Assistant Deputy Project Manager will be the management and operational delivery of allocated contracted services. He/She will provide assistance and advice to all contract support staff and Work Stream Managers in respect of the following:

  • Provide day to day management of all aspects of service delivery.

  • Investigate faults and problems and assist the Deputy Project Manager in service delivery and related matters.

  • Supervise and ensure all contracted support work is effectively managed.

  • Provide a 24/7 Customer Focal Point service to manage the operational needs of the Client.

  • Assist in maintaining a close relationship with the client through regular meetings

  • Prepare and provide routine and ad hoc management reports as required.

  • Participate in the Management of Health and Safety; in particular undertake regular inspections of work areas. sites and sub-contractors

  • Assist in the management of HR issues & manpower aspects of the contract.

  • Be the Project focal point for the implementation & delivery of the project Quality Management System (in conjunction with the UK based QA Manager)

  • Compliance with the Health and Safety at Works Act and KBR HSE policies and champion Zero Harm.

  • Management, discipline and training of all employees.

  • Management of sub-contractors.

  • Ensure all KBR (UK) corporate and in-theatre policies are adhered to by staff.

  • Support to other NSPA projects as required.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

Essential

  • Strong management track record

  • Budget management experience

  • Relevant professional qualification

  • Previously Managed workforce in excess of 100.

  • Experience working with NSPA.

  • Be capable of obtaining NATO Secret Clearance

Preferred

  • Overseas experience in an operational environment

  • Working with Military/National Government clients

  • Working with a multinational workforce

  • Quality Assurance Procedures experience
