Assistant Contracts Manager

Working directly for the Contracts Director and involved in all elements of construction for the Group. Ideal role for a junior QS, qualified or part qualified looking to progress. Role includes:

  • tendering for work and business development
  • undertaking bill of quants and take offs
  • planning projects and ensure that they meet agreed specifications, budgets and timescales
  • managing site budgets and financial performance including the valuation and invoice process
  • liaising with clients, professional staff and the public, building relationships with all
  • helping prepare sites prior to the commencement of construction work
  • checking building work on-site is carried out correctly
  • holding the site team to account
  • procuring and negotiating contacts with subcontractors
  • Health and Safety including site inspections
  • checking and preparing site reports
  • checking and issuing designs and drawings
  • maintaining quality control procedures
  • motivating, leading and managing the workforce
  • solving problems
  • assisting with all activities on-site and in the office if required
  • overseeing defect rectifications
  • acting as Site Manager during periods of holiday
  • ad hoc duties

The candidate should have:

  • construction experience and understanding of contracts including JCTs
  • ability to work under own initiative
  • a committed work ethic
  • strong numeracy
  • good attention to detail
  • be a team player and be able to work to deadlines
  • professional in appearance and attitude
