Assistant Buyer

Full-time Assistant Buyer required (Mon-Fri 08:30 -17:00)

£22,000 - £24,000 per annum (depending on experience)

We are currently looking for an Assistant Buyerto join our Purchasing Department within the Hemel Hempstead area.

DDC Foods Ltd was founded in 1996, for the purpose of offering an alternative range of snacks and soft drinks to the consumer, compared to the mainstream readily available brands. The point of difference would be that the products were truly innovative, healthier as well as new and exciting. The company would embrace new ideas and concepts from entrepreneurs who share the same vision and aspirations by creating brands that change the way we snack and drink. In 2016, we introduced chilled and frozen products to our range.

Over the years, we have been instrumental in supporting such ideas and helping businesses showcase and distribute their products. This has been our company’s ethos and true to our vision we have not diversified from this.

We are a national wholesale and distribution company servicing over 97% of our customers with our own fleet of vehicles.

As well as ISO and NSF accreditations, the company enjoys a diverse customer base ranging from very high-profile accounts within the food service industry to independent and multiple retailers, wholesalers as well as exporting globally.

The company currently employs over 80 staff with an annual turnover of £18m.

The Role:

Your duties will include:

  • Collating and maintaining compliance sheet and food safety certificates;
  • Compiling information on new products ready for presentation internally and notifying supplier of the outcome;

  • Setting up product sheets ready for codes and compliance;

  • Organising seasonal NPD once information given by manager;

  • Producing price increase/decrease sheets, checking for rebates before handing to manager;

  • Updating promotional calendar;

  • E-mailing customers their bespoke promotions for agreement;

  • E-mailing customers and internal staff new product information;

  • Logging complaints and following process to completion;

  • Printing purchase orders, e-mailing them and reacting to responses regarding shortages, delivery dates etc.;

  • Ambient and chilled purchasing to an agreed authority limit; and

  • Ad-hoc tasks and projects.

Specific Job Requirements:

  • Minimum GSCE in English and Maths, grade A-C or equivalent

  • Some previous experience in an administrative role

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Confident and clear on the telephone

  • Good ICT skills including a good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Benefits:

  • £22,000 - £24,000 depending on experience per annum
