Assistant Accountant

Axon Moore are working with a leading manufacturing company based in South Manchester.  Our client has a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their finance team. 

You will be responsible for assisting the Financial Controller in the preparation of the monthly Management Accounts including commentary and will become a Business Partner to departmental managers.  You will also be responsible for producing reports, doing required Analysis and looking after manual GRN’s and PO’s.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for:

- Ensure business transactions are accounted for correctly
- Responsible for SOX adherence for the areas of responsibility
- Assist the regional Site Directors in preparing the full forecast and budget process
- Prepare and issue monthly management reports including relevant concise commentary
- Ensure correct monthly accounting for all GRN, PO’s and ad-hoc accruals
- Analyse product profitability for the business
- Examine manufacturing variances and trends as a % of sales
- Review finance process performance and identify continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive a compliant and controlled capex approval and monitoring process
- Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
- Be a key business partner working proactively with the management team and their teams to drive business decisions and understanding
- Responsible for monthly site reporting on KPI’s and cost drivers
- Management reporting to comply with internal and external auditing
- Key contributor in driving the successful implementation of the ERP system

Person Specification:

- You will be studying CIMA or ACCA. 
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Commercial experience, ideally in manufacturing
- Excellent analytical skills and MI reporting skills
- Strong excel skills – data manipulation, pivot tables, look ups, basic macro’s
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to produce accurate work and to pay attention to detail
- Excellent team worker
- Tenacious problem solver
