Our Client urgently requires an Assistant Accountant - Treasury, to join the team on a temporary assignment. The Assistant Accountant would ensure all bank and cash book transactions are accurately and promptly reflected within the accounting system and reconciled to bank statements.

Duties of the Assistant Accountant - Treasury:

  • Import bank statements on a weekly basis

  • Reconcile cash book to bank statements (including receipts received by BACS and cheques, detailed allocations of credit card payments received and payments made outwards)

  • Monitor and control company direct debits, ensuring correct coding and paperwork

  • Accurate, timely posting and allocation of transactions onto the accounting system (coding payroll payment, pension payments, direct debit collection, overseas payments, purchase ledger payment runs and bank charges)

  • Make ad hoc electronic bank payments and post associated journal

  • Dealing with any bank queries in a timely manner

  • Helping out the credit controller by identifying and allocating BACS/cheque payments received

  • Allocate receipts taken via our website (Worldpay, Worldpay Amex, Paypal and Stripe) on the bank (using hosts website to download transactions to Excel and then manually agree to amount received on bank statement, posting journal and then allocating)

  • Month end allocations on the bank for intercompany transfers and bank charges

  • Coding and posting of Branch income

  • Ensure timely investigation and resolution of any outstanding items on the bank

The Assistant Accountant requirement:

  • Has experience in performing large volume bank reconciliations - ideally on Microsoft Navision

  • Providing holiday/sickness cover for critical duties where possible and necessary within the department

  • Good attention to detail for accurate coding of information

  • Logical with good organisational skills

  • Tenacious and have good investigative skills

  • Good PC skills including Outlook and Word and advanced Excel (Vlookups, Pivot tables)
