This Learning Support Assistant Role in Reading is for a driven, empathetic character who has the ability to see the big picture of the students they work with. You won't always get to see a wonderful, life affirming moments with students, not all of your work will be appreciated by them. It's about laying the foundations for students to understand the importance of their education.

Knowledge of 'Just for Kids Law' will help you, great resource for understanding what youth Advocates do. Trauma, neglect, turbulence, elements that are difficult to identify and things young people won't want to talk about. This includes additional needs. Being a Youth Advocate, clarity and sincerity with your pupils is absolutely key, helping them to find their voice. Sincerity in mental health is key to succeed in this role, aiding the attainment gap.

Being a LSA in this role requires pragmatism and positive reinforcement will be key skills in this LSA role in Dorking. The role specialises in working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues and Wellness concerns. The boys you are raising attainment with are between the ages of 9-16, all have EHCPs and will need to continue their education once they leave the school.

Behaviour is only one aspect of this role, it is imperative that you have the academic skill to be able to raise academic attainment across a number of areas. Computing, Hairdressing, PE and the Performative Arts are all incredibly important here, there is a real holistic approach and feeling within this brand new SEMH School in Dorking.

Do you require a placement before starting your MSc/Research project? This practical placement will enable you to qualify and disqualify areas of Psychology, Youth, Social and Criminal Justice that are right for you.
