Aspiring Community Psychologist Slough - Mental Health Support Worker - Aspiring Community Psychologist Slough - Education and Training - March 8th start - Education and Training

A Graduate and an aspiring psychologist should prosper well in this LSA role, if you know your objectives and are sincere in wanting to work with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges, this will test you. Long lasting, productive relationships with students will not be built immediately, aspects of this role will take you months to succeed in.

It is vital you are sincere about your objectives and know why you want to work in the mental health sector and provide the best possible foundations for vulnerable students who have suffered several traumas and have been tragically let down by the adult world. These roles are not easy and it takes months, years to build foundations with vulnerable students and young learners. Some of the foundations you set, you may never see the positive results that come of it. Empathy is the key here, not sympathy and you must know why you want to work with the boys in your care.

You will be working with students who have a mix of Autism, Dyslexia, SEMH and Mild to Severe Learning Difficulties. Youth Advocacy and integrity within Social Justice plays a big part in your success in such a role.

The schools are specialist SEMH schools or Alternative Provisions - they provide education for students, aged 3-16, for students who have Social, Emotional and Mental health and Wellness concerns, all have been excluded from the mainstream education. It is important to focus on making education accessible to them in a way that it has not been previously.
