Area Sales Manager

Nelson Permanent Placements are currently recruiting for an Area Sales Manager to work with their prestigious client in Hamilton. Our client is leading supplier within their specialist industry who in recent years has been brought out by a huge international brand meaning opportunities within the group are endless. To be considered for this role you will be a new business hunter and have a proven track record in growing accounts. The successful candidate will report to the National Sales Manager and be required to travel to meetings within territory.

  • To achieve quarterly and annual sales targets, these targets are measured by both sales and profit.

  • To create excellent working relationships with the UK customers so that our business is a partnership rather than transactional.

  • To provide business plans where applicable and in line with company objectives

  • To visit customers within the territory in line with call planning and call cycles

  • To visit 'National Accounts’ to help with merchandising, trade days and present the latest promotional campaigns as well as build and maintain relationships

  • To think creatively and identify new opportunities and new ways to increase sales and relationships with our customers.

  • To seek out and open new accounts in line with the brand strategy and company objectives

  • Monitor competitor activity and report back to Head office any changes and developments

  • To develop a high level understanding of the trade/professional sector

  • Represent the Company brands correctly, minimum margins must be maintained and the correct brands used within the specified sales channels.

  • Creativity, sales projects must be truly inspirational in the customer’s eyes.

  • To ensure effective use of the CRM system, maintaining the database and keeping call notes up to date

Skills Required:

  • Proven and successful sales experience in a similar role

  • A good knowledge of the DIY market but not essential

  • Excellent IT skills including experience of CRM systems excel and word.

  • Good communication skills bother oral and written

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Confident in their own ability

  • Strong sense of humour

  • Sociable


  • Must have GCSE’s in Maths & English at Grade C & above
