Area Sales Manager - Life Science

Suitable for an experienced scientific sales person (office or field-based) seeking a new challenge or a scientist (BSc or MSc with post degree laboratory experience or recently finished PhD) who can demonstrate excellent commercial awareness and drive to move into a scientific technical sales position!

PRODUCTS: Laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, laboratory freezers and some tissue culture consumables
TERRITORY: South London, Berkshire, Hampshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Wiltshire
CLIENTS: Academic, Research, Pharmaceutical, Hospital Laboratories

This role is 80% field-based, travelling to customer sites across the region. The company has excellent opportunities for career progression, development and has excellent support and training on offer.

This is a very consultative, technical sales role, where team work and relationship building skills are key.

ROLE:
To achieve or exceed monthly and full year target revenue for this region.
Ensure all relevant market and customer information is noted on the company database and shared amongst colleagues
Attend all company sales meetings and assist with providing progress presentations.
Maintain and grow current customer relationships to that the territory sales plan is achieved and that excellent long-term relationships are developed.
Focus on developing new business opportunities by internet research, prospecting, attendance at industry exhibitions and follow up leads.
Keep up to date with competitor activity, market trends and industry insights.
Generate quotations and prepare proposals for customers.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Life Science degree

- Sales experience (capital equipment and/or consumables) is preferred. Applicants without scientific sales experience will be considered if they show excellent commercial awareness and drive to move into technical sales. A good practical laboratory background is essential and any experience working in a commercial role (retail or telesales) would be preferred.

- Technical competence and excellent customer problem solving skills

- Excellent communication skills are required with the ability to express information in a clear and concise manner.
