Brierley J are working with a design, manufacture and installation company who specialise in physical security products. They have been established for over thirty years and continue to push the boundaries of design and manufacture in order to protect people and assets from present and future dangers.
They have extensive expertise in this highly specialist area due to their continued investment in research and development as well as in testing and certification over the last decade. They produce armoured products with patented innovative features which provide burglar, bullet and blast resistance. They provide a full turnkey solution for clients, managing the process from end to end resulting in a more streamlined, quality controlled and efficient supply chain.
They are looking for an Design Engineer to join their project management team to support the design part of projects. This is a new role within the business and requires someone to create formal design standards and detailing. They are looking for someone client facing, someone who can conduct themselves on site, work with the client and other key stakeholders to create the write design brief for the business.
They are looking for someone experience who can take a holistic view and look ahead to see problems on the horizon. There is a lot of pressure on these projects so the person coming in needs to be able to absorb that into their working style.
Currently the process within the company is for the order to come in, the clients asks for a simple design drawing, the designer would then go to site to get information required and work up the design ensuring accuracy throughout, there needs to be an understanding of how to annotate drawings correctly, understanding the impact it’ll have on the rest of the design team. This person will be responsible for controlling the technical aspect of the project, control minutes of meetings, pull together the O&M manuals as well as bringing all the H&S together.
The workload is varied can will include small projects such as cash machines right through to heavy duty security projects on nuclear sites.
The client provides modular systems. Nothing is manufactured on site, they have numerous supplies who build the equipment. Their role is to design and project manage the project.
Use AutoCAD is required and Solidworks is ideal.
