Manager needed! Great opportunity for a senior architectural technician to manage a small team in Birmingham City Centre.

I am currently working exclusively with a practice who is now looking for a senior architectural technician to manage a small team in their Birmingham office.
The office is based in Birmingham City Centre. They work on residential and mixed use sectors, as well as in the commercial, leisure and public sectors.

PURPOSE OF JOB
Senior architectural technician will manage the office and delegate work. will assist the Directors in the programming and co-ordination of the workload of their relevant teams and to ensure that information issued by the Drawing Office is adequate from which to price and build the project accordingly. Their role is to ensure the project remains in compliance to the needs of the project in terms of quality, cost and time and that their assigned technicians are managing their tasks effectively.

MAIN TASKS

1.Liaise with Directors to produce and regularly update programme of current workload for the relevant sections.

2.Attend as required internal team meetings in order to review progress.

3.Obtain NHBC and Local Authority approval to both new and revised standard house types, and all relevant working drawing information.

4.Liaise with, and responsible for information prepared and issued by external consultants and Architects.

5.Arrange for associated details to be prepared for standard house types (roof and plumbing layouts).

6.Control Divisions' copies of building Regulations and NHBC Standards and other legislative documents.

7.Liaise with Design Consultants Engineering and other relevant departments in order to maintain production.

8.Organise and co-ordinate any revisions required to house types/drawing information.

9.Ensure that information produced by team members is correct, co-ordinated and checked prior to being issued. Ensure it complies with all documentation necessary for the contract.

10.Ensure accuracy and maintain control of external supplier's information for issue.

11.Assist with production of information if required.

12.Visit sites periodically to monitor construction and compliance with issued information and Planning Conditions.

13.Coach trainee staff on drawing office procedure and in production of information.

14.Manage the staff performance management process for those employees assigned to them.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

-A minimum of 5 years' experience in an architectural practice
-Proven experience of working on housing residential developments
-Extensive knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, any associated British Standards and other legislative documents relevant to the particular sections' scope of works.
-Substantial drawing experience within an Architectural Practice and/or Developer, predominately in house building, but preferably with some experience in other aspects.
-Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
-Ability to supervise technical staff of differing levels of experience.
