ARC National Communications Manager

Are you an experienced science communications professional who can develop creative solutions to complex communications challenges? Do you want to contribute to a national collaboration at the cutting edge of applied health and care research?

We are recruiting for an ARC National Communications Manager (maternity cover) to join the National Institute for Health Research Applied Research Collaborations (NIHR ARCs) network.

NIHR ARCs support applied health and care research that responds to, and meets, the needs of local populations and local health and care systems. There are 15 ARCs across England, part of a £135 million investment by the NIHR to improve the health and care of patients and the public. Each ARC has a communications lead.

The ARC National Communications Manager is a role that aims to develop cross-ARC communications, bringing together stories, case studies and other content and developing cross-ARC channels, to reach national audiences such as policymakers, commissioners, health professionals, researchers and the public. The post holder will lead on the development and delivery of cross-ARC communications

The role requires an experienced and confident communications specialist that has the credibility to deal with a range colleagues across all 15 ARCs and in NIHR’s central communications team. You will have previous brand management experience ensuring consistent delivery of brand values and design look and feel across different communication channels. You will also have specialist knowledge and extensive experience of communication management within a complex business or agency environment. You must be innovative, enjoy setting the agenda and forging new ways of working, as well being comfortable operating in a dynamic environment.

The post is initially offered as maternity cover replacement (maximum of 12 months) at three days a week, and will be hosted by ARC West, with a base in Bristol and some travel to ARCs and national meetings across England.
