They are an independent provider of telecom towers, with around 8,000 active licensed sites, and the only national provider of terrestrial television and radio broadcasting.

Now, our client is looking for two Apprentice Broadcast Engineers to join them on three year apprenticeships and help to maintain a broadcast tower in Gerrards Cross.

Your apprenticeship will combine a formal education with on-the-job training supported by local mentors. Our client will provide you with all the support you need to gain your Level 4 Diploma or Foundation Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering and a Level 4 Vocational Competence diploma.

Your Role:

As an Apprentice Broadcast Engineer, you will learn and will subsequently take responsibility for the operational and maintenance support of a range of satellite and data communications equipment based in Gerrards Cross.

During your training programme, you will be required to spend some time away from home. Any travel and accommodation will be organised by the company.

In this largely office-based role, you will be supporting a facility in Gerrards Cross, installing systems, conducting testing, maintaining and administering the DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) compression platform and implementing new video and audio channels.

You will also be required to provide out of hours engineering support to the satellite and media services as part of an on-call rota.

About You:

To join our client as an Apprentice Broadcast Engineer, you’ll need:

- At least two A-Levels (or equivalent), ideally including, Maths, IT or Science, preferably Physics
- A minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including Maths, English and IT or Science, preferably Physics
- A full, valid driving licence
- To be self-motivated and eager to learn
- Great team-working skills

Other organisations may call this role Apprentice Broadcast Engineer, Broadcast Engineering Apprentice, Trainee Communications Engineer, Junior Satellite Engineer, Trainee Telecoms Engineer or Apprentice Telecommunications Engineer.

Please note, this is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week. Our client provides a 24/7 service to customers, so you’ll also need to take part in an on-call rota, covering nights and weekends.
