The role of Applications Engineer is to assist with the development and characterising of the next generation capacitive touch screen products. This will include ownership and development of a suitable FPGA emulation platform to ensure correct design as well as a vehicle to develop Firmware. This will involve working closely with engineering and application team members both locally and worldwide to provide expert service to our customers.
This role would suit a newly qualified graduate that has already gained some commercial experience who is now seeking to continue their development to create and maintain software and hardware solutions for a variety of customer projects.
The role will require you developing custom embedded C code for projects and keeping up to date in the latest development in this exciting technology.
*HW design (PCB and FPGA)
*IC and System validation to ensure suitability for target consumer markets
*Provide a Technical interface to customers remotely and at their sites as required, this will involve European and International travel.
*Participate in team design review as appropriate
*Facilitate schematic & BOM creation
*Provide the basis & some content for product documentation
*Undertake open-ended design projects based on customer input
*Ensure coherent & professional communications with customer peer groups
*Disseminate technical information & inputs from customers as appropriate
*Project task coordination and planning
*Provide timely status reports on projects to project management.
*Support existing products
*Support colleagues in other worldwide Application teams as required
*Assisting with manufacturability and usage issues
*Facilitate the sourcing of components
*Adhere to all prevalent company design rules (h/w & s/w) and QA guidelines
*Propose options for new product development resulting from customer feedback and requests
*To acquire in-depth knowledge of relevant SSL products and their relative applications
*Assist Field Applications Engineers (FAE's) with customer enquiries
Engineering Skill Set
*Experience of digital electronics design including Verilog RTL expertise to map the IC design across to FPGA
*Mainstream FPGA HW and tools experience (Xilinx or Altera)
*Experience of firmware development; software development; electronic circuit design, Facilitate PCB layout, modification and prototype construction, Customer facing experience
