Search Scientific are currently seeking an API Process Development Chemist on a initial 18 month contract to join a multi-national company who specialises in the manufacturing of API's, for a wide range of pharmaceutical products.

The API Process Development Chemist will work as part of a renowned chemical technology team, based within the Morpeth site.

The API Process Development Chemist will work as part of an established multi-disciplined team with responsibilities focused on developing and implementing procedures to ensure that only compliant product is delivered to customers.

Academically you will be qualified with a master's degree in chemistry or a related subject, with a specific focus on organic chemistry. The individual who is applying to this role must also have experience working within a development chemist role in the Pharmaceutical industry. They should also have experience working with Active Pharmaceuticals Ingredients (API's) and/or GMP manufacture.

Responsibilities of the role to include:

* Perform the synthesis & purification of API reference standards for new and existing processes

* To carry out technical transfer, development and optimisation of processes in the laboratory, consistent with production/customer requirements

* To perform scale-up and transfer of processes from the lab to the API production facility, including on-going production support.

* To examine existing processes, to enable process optimisation and product life cycle maintenance, as well as improve quality, reliability, safety and cost
