Advanced Physiotherapist Musculoskeletal

The Musculoskeletal Services at SWBH Trust, comprising physiotherapists, occupational therapists and advanced practitioners, are led by Consultant Physiotherapists and a team of clinical leads. We deliver a portfolio of patient-focused pathways of care within a range of sub-speciality areas including Pain Management, Rheumatology, hydrotherapy, and primary care. We also provide multidisciplinary clinics such as Hand Clinic alongside specialist OTs, rehabilitation programmes in community leisure centres and work within other departments including T&O Day Unit and A&E. We are committed to the delivery of integrated evidence-based care of the highest quality and are currently developing or structure to embrace the Personalised Care Agenda and implement First Contact Practitioner roles. Our vision for a capable workforce across primary, community and secondary care, will be supported with an inbuilt programme of staff development, including the opportunity to apply to our bespoke post-graduate ACP/MACP apprenticeship scheme next year.

This developmental role is an exciting opportunity for a specialist msk clinician who is ready to progress towards an advanced practice role. You will be supported by a mentor to help identify and support your learning needs working across the integrated pathway potentially including primary care, msk sub-speciality areas, pain clinic and paper/virtual triage. In turn, you will be expected to support peers and colleagues from the wider MDT, show commitment to quality and have the motivation to help evaluate and develop practice. The department is research-active, participating in several multi-centre trials and supporting clinicians undertaking PhD study and other research training. We have close links with Keele and Coventry Universities and provide post-graduate placements for MACP students from the University of Birmingham. You will have a portfolio demonstrating development of specialist MSK skills including evidence of clinical development at Level 7, a commitment to quality and the drive to continuously improve care.
