We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospital pharmacist with a passion for critical care to join our team providing a high quality and specialist service to our patients requiring intensive care.

We are looking for someone with proven clinical skills, initiative, a flexible and adaptable approach to work and excellent communication skills.

You will work closely with the nurses and doctors on ICU, attend the multidisciplinary ward round giving pharmacy support and advice as well as supporting the development of treatment guidelines and protocols. Other duties will include financial reporting for the division, clinical audit, risk management and multi-professional teaching.

The post is a cross site role, it will be based at the Scunthorpe General hospital site but as our Advanced Clinical Pharmacist for Critical Care you will have joint responsibility for instigating changes, disseminating information and for supporting any critical care issues across the Trust. An NMP qualification is desirable.

You will have line management and supervision duties for pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists and ward support technicians within your clinical team. You will support the Pharmacist Clinical Team Manager in the delivery of the Pharmacy Vision and Values Strategy, working alongside a team of Advanced Clinical Pharmacists.

As a department we are actively using skill mix and role development to enhance job content and quality at all levels of the department. The department is supported by a robust technician management structure leaving pharmacists to concentrate on clinical and professional aspects of patient care.

We are a successful Pharmacy Department in a Trust which has given Medicines Optimisation a high priority. We have outsourced our outpatient dispensing, and implemented electronic prescribing to the majority of our inpatient wards. We have successfully opened a new £1.5 million aseptic unit, and electronic prescribing for chemotherapy. We have also been successful in establishing strong links with local Universities to support pharmacy undergraduates and medical undergraduates and place a strong emphasis on education, training and development of healthcare professionals.

The post includes participation in the late duty, weekend, bank holiday and on-call (EDC) rotas.

Northern Lincolnshire combines rural charm with bustling picturesque market towns and villages. The area is well served by roads and rail, it is less than three hours to London, and Humberside Airport has daily flights to European airports. The famous Humber Bridge enables you to reach Hull and the ferry port for travelling to mainland Europe. Housing standards are high with prices below the national average.
