Admissions Administrator - £14.72ph plus holiday pay - Central London

Start Wednesday 24th January 2018 for six weeks initially

MAIN DUTIES

Admissions

  • Working closely with the Programmes Admissions Manager to administer the admissions processes for the School’s Postgraduate and Undergraduate programmes; including criteria based decision making on multiple postgraduate applications and the co-ordination of undergraduate admissions
  • Answering admissions related queries by telephone, email or in person
  • Assisting in producing and updating monthly monitoring statistics using Registry reports
  • Liaising with Registry to process applications which require special attention including writing waiver and submission of suspension regulations cases
  • Regularly updating the Department’s website with news, events and admission details
  • Updating all relevant Prospectus pages annually
  • Working with the Teaching Administration team to ensure that all students receive induction information prior to the beginning of each academic session
  • Use social media to connect with incoming students
  • Assist the Programmes Admissions Manager in the administration and admission of PhD students
  • Advise students on scholarship opportunities
  • Extract and interpret data from the admissions database

Marketing and Recruitment

  • Assist the Programmes Admissions Manager with the delivery of the strategic marketing conversion programme for the department to include Open Days, Events and Offer Evenings
  • Continued Development of marketing collateral in conjunction with Central Marketing and Media Division
  • Organisation of Student ambassadors for events and subsequent payment
  • Ordering of Departmental Merchandise and subsequent payment
  • Assist with the Marketing Budget and attend regular marketing meetings
  • Use of Social Media to advertise events and departmental updates
  • Take part in the production and filming of student events
  • Attendance at Recruitment Fairs
  • Assisting with the organisation and delivery of induction week, careers events and other departmental events, as required;

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills

  • Evidence of excellent administrative skills and a highly proactive approach to providing a comprehensive support service including providing an excellent student/customer service
  • Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable ability to work with confidential information with diplomacy and tact
  • Demonstrable ability to work well as a member of a team, sometimes under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrable ability to manage multiple deadlines, exercise time management skills and manage high volumes of work/data
  • Ability to exercise initiative and work independently
  • Demonstrable ability to understand and work within given procedures and policies
  • Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively with academic and administrative staff and to develop effective working relationships
  • Evidence of excellent IT skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, database packages, web browsers and email packages, with social media awareness, with a willingness to learn about and use new software

Experience

  • Experience of providing comprehensive and proactive administrative support including providing excellent student/customer service.
  • Experience of managing multiple deadlines, exercising time management skills and managing high volumes of work/data without direct supervision.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a marketing/events/promotional area within a Higher Education Institution
  • Experience of providing high level support to students and dealing directly with student enquiries
  • Experience of student data systems
