Accounts Assistant

My well established client is currently recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join them on a temporary to permanent contract. 

This varied role will include taking ownership of the Purchase and Sales Ledger functions including cash and bank mamagement and involvement within the month end accounting routine. 

Ownership of the full P2P (Purchase to Pay) process, from purchase requisition to invoice payment including:

Recording transactions on a real time basis.

Maintaining the Purchase Ledger, including Coding, Posting invoices & ensuring purchases are appropriately authorised.

Controlling and administering all company credit procedures ensuring real time recording and supporting evidence for all transactions.

Verify and approve all reimbursable employee expense within our PSA system in a timely manner and preparing a report for payment

Involvement in monthly sales Invoice process 

Preparing and verifying our Product invoices & client rechargeable expenses invoices ,
Invoice reconciliation for self-billing customers

Managing Cash & Bank procedures including;

Recording receipts and payments daily.

Conducting reconciliation of all bank accounts (including those in foreign currencies).

Proposing payment of supplier invoices in a timely manner through internet banking.

Controlling and monitoring petty cash (including those in foreign currencies).

Involvement in Monthly Accounting Routine

Posting all transactions for the period.

Revaluing month end balances in foreign currencies.

Ensuring timely reconciliation of Aged Debtors & Creditors

Verify month end supplier statements

Verify Balance Sheet and control accounts

Preparing VAT and other statutory returns


Thorough knowledge and understanding of double entry bookkeeping through to Trial Balance.

Extensive knowledge and first-hand experience of computerised accounting packages (inc Sage Line 50).

Good practical Excel & Word skills and experience.

A detailed knowledge of input and output VAT recognition and recording.

Ability to work to deadlines with a disciplined eye for detail.

Good organisational and time management skills.

Good communication – written, verbal and active listening skills.
