Accounts assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic administrative / accounts assistant in Mitcham South West London within a successful construction and logistics company.

The successful candidate must be able to hit the ground running with all functions related to administration, general accounting procedures, file maintenance and general reception duties. This role requires the individual to be able to manager their own time efficiently and to keep to deadlines.

ESSENTIAL WORK SKILLS:

  • Able to demonstrate experience of working in a accounts department in a busy business environment

  • A working knowledge of Sage line 50

  • Minimum of 1 years administration and sales/purchase ledge

  • Ability to manage & prioritise a variety of administration / accounting tasks
  • The ability to interact with colleagues at all levels of the organisation
  • Be highly organized with great attention to detail

  • Want a role with longevity

  • Experience in the Construction industry is desirable

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Confident processing sales/purchase invoices

  • Upload all invoicing and credit notes to Sage
  • Maintain the sales/purchase ledgers and resolve any issues that occur

  • Maintains accurate and up to date customer details and account records
  • Reconciling accounts and processing/allocating incoming payments received by cheque, BACS or credit cards.

  • Respond promptly and completely to both client and internal enquiries
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting as and when requested

  • Provide cover for other accounting functions as requested (experience process payroll beneficial)

  • To ensure manual and computerised records are accurately maintained and updated

  • Ordering various items as an when required

Must have a flexible can do approach to working, able to stay calm and focused in a pressured environment.
