Accounts Assistant / Finance Trainee

Background

This is an exciting new opportunity to join a rapidly expanding engineering and services business on the South Coast. The business has grown to annual turnover in excess of £24m through organic sales contract wins as well as the recent acquisition of three competitors during the last 12 months. With projected turnover growth for 2018, the organisation is building a solid platform for further growth by strengthening its junior management team and its Business Support functions. With this in mind, the Finance Team is now recruiting for an Accounts Assistant / Finance Trainee.

The Role

As our new Accounts Assistant, you will work with our Finance Team to support our growing business, supporting on all aspects of credit control, accounts payable and reporting. As a business we invest in our employees to develop strong teams and this role is no exception - we will invest in AAT training as part of the Apprenticeship scheme, allowing you to grow and develop your career through our organisation, should this be of interest to you.

Detailed Tasks and Responsibilities Include:

  • Posting cash transactions on Sage accounting package, allocating customer remittances on sales ledger accounts and reconciling customer statements
  • Reporting cash collection information to Credit Control Manager
  • Credit control support
  • Supporting Billing team by chasing and monitoring customer POs
  • Updating customer portals with billing information
  • Managing FOC shipping invoices
  • Providing transactional support to Billing
  • Other duties across the Finance Team as required

Candidate

The ideal candidate would have experience, qualities and qualifications as follows:

  • Self motivated, pro active and approachable
  • Ability to communicate, respond to and successfully resolve queries from all users across the business, internally and externally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Credit control and accounts payable experience desirable but not essential
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi task and learn quickly
  • Ability to adapt well in a demanding environment
