Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller

Media firm is looking for an Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller (3 years + on job experience) to join busy team of 3 within accounts department in the west end area. The role reports directly to a Financial Controller.

Salary: £21,000 to £27,000 depending on experience, qualification and performance

Location: West End, London (closest tube station: Oxford Circus or Picadilly Circus)

Job type: Full time; Monday to Friday - 9:00am to 5:30pm

The candidate must be a proficient user of Sage Accounts 50 and an intermediate user of excel (vlook ups, hlook ups, pivot tables is desirable). Other duties will include:

  • Raising Sales Invoices, statements and reconciling these with excel sales ledger spreadsheets within a timely period.

  • Chasing outstanding invoices and payments received agreed terms

  • Taking full control of the Sales Ledger; establishing and maintaining good customer relations and chasing up debts

  • Posting and allocating daily receipts to accounting systems (Bank reconciliations) - (Incl. credit card statements)

  • Maintaining Intercompany balances, transactions and Invoices.

  • Resolving general accounting queries and completing accounts administration as required (eg scanning invoices and saving invoices in a sequential order)

  • Checking customer’s credit ratings and filing sales ledger related paperwork

  • Banking cheques, processing incoming payments over the phone and debit/bank cards. Preparing and entering basic journals

    Person Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and clients, including good telephone manner.

  • Experience of data entry with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work harmoniously in a team and excellent record and maintaining a trail of information keeping essential.

  • Be willing and able to grasp and learn new systems, processes and procedures

  • Excellent time management, with experience of managing own workload and meeting deadlines, able to prioritise workload. Ability to work in fast paced environment along with high degree of integrity and honesty.

    Please note: Training will be provided but candidate is expected have 3 years plus experience in Credit Control. The candidate will have the opportunity to also develop and learn new areas within the accounting function.
