Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant / Finance Manager

Our client has been established for 10 years and is a now a successful supplier to many large retailers such as Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose. Due to continued expansion they are now looking for a bright and ambitious accounts person to join their small and friendly team.

The role reports directly to the CEO and as well as covering the major elements of the typical finance function, across sales and purchase ledger activity, there is a need for the job holder to offer support to the Operations function with which Finance works most closely. The role includes all aspects of finance on a daily basis for the UK and overseas in a busy and high pressured office environment. The role will involve a large amount of interaction with Operations, Warehouse and the Sales team.

Key Objectives and responsibilities

  • Assist in the production of monthly management accounts providing support to both the acting Finance Director and the CEO
  • Treasury including daily cash flows, payments, funding facilities management and foreign exchange; again, these tasks will be completed as part of the support to the CEO
  • Ensuring all sales and purchase invoices are uploaded in a timely fashion onto the company Sage system and in this regard allocating tasks to, and managing the work of, the Accounts Assistant
  • VAT returns for the UK and EC sales including duty deferment and the management of commodity codes
  • Regular review of stock i.e. obsolete stock etc
  • Costing and profitability for new products and assistance with the company deal sheets under guidance from the CEO
  • Assist in the production of annual budgets and regular re-forecasting in liaison with the acting Finance Director and CEO
  • Bank account reconciliations
  • Preparation and assistance with the regular audits with the company’s banking partners and year end auditors
  • Ad hoc Project work with Directors of the business

Experience

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Management of staff
  • Experience using an accounts package, preferably Sage Line 50
  • Experience with VAT (UK)
  • Experience with foreign Currency
