The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) is a charity dedicated to promoting engagement with the visual arts. We own and run the RBSA Gallery, just off St Paul’s Square in Birmingham and are looking for an experienced Charity Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our dedicated and energetic team.
Your role will be to take responsibility for accounts and membership administration in our busy contemporary art gallery. This will include maintaining Sage Line 50 accounts, including recording income, managing payments, and raising invoices; payroll processing using Sage Payroll; submitting PAYE and VAT returns to HMRC; producing financial reports and projections; managing our membership database, and completing a variety of administrative tasks.
You will be educated to at least A-Level (or equivalent), have substantial experience of accounts administration, be proficient in the use of Microsoft and Sage Line 50 software, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work on your own initiative. It will be advantageous for applicants to have wider skill sets and a willingness to support the Society’s objectives.
This role would suit an experienced, diligent and reliable accounts professional ready to make an outstanding contribution to a thriving arts organisation.
This is a part time post (23.25 hours). Although our preference is for these hours to be worked in three full days, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 9.00am to 5.15pm (with a 30 minute lunch break), we can be flexible about working hours to suit the individual so are happy to consider alternative arrangements.
