Reporting is accountable for delivering on time and accurate financial results
and disclosures across all reporting metrics, while providing real business
insights, quality assurance and technical advice. The focus of the role is that
of a technical specialist who will identify gaps or constraints, develop
solutions and provide expert advice and insights . The Technical Accountant
will be responsible for providing expert, accurate and well explained
accounting advice to Finance and the wider business.

You will
represent Finance Reporting in wider business change projects and will
therefore need to have a good understanding of the Prudential UK & Europe
operating model and strategic priorities. The role requires a qualified
accountant who has practical experience across a range of Finance specialisms
and experience of technical accounting matters. This will include assisting in
determining the accounting treatment of projects / transactions.

Purpose of
the role:

To provide
expertise and advice to the business to support others in the production of
financial information under all reporting metrics (IFRS, SII, EEV, UK GAAP),
delivering solutions to meet business needs.

Assist in
determining the accounting treatment of projects / transactions.

To provide
advice and guidance on the application of accounting principles and tools to
solve problems and to stay up to date on financial reporting developments and
advise the business on the implications

To act as a
subject matter expert in Finance change projects, where required and represent
the UK business in group wide finance change and financial reporting


accounting experience from within the insurance industry

Experience of
applying accounting principles to complex transactions and events in order to
advise the business on the appropriate accounting treatment and practical

Experience of
conducting project reviews and challenging project rationale, plan,
deliverables and measures to ensure delivery of the change agenda for Finance

Experience of
analysing risks, anticipating barriers and incorporating changes into plans

Experience of
communicating financial information to stakeholders across Prudential to
support planning and decision making

Experience of
disseminating quality information to internal and external stakeholders
(including regulators and rating agencies) and ensuring it is understood

Experience of
analysing financial reports and assessing the impact of performance measures on
insurance requirements and coverage

Experience of
analysing and consolidating financial statements into relevant reports,
providing invaluable insight into findings and making recommendations

Experience of developing
relationships with internal and external influencers e.g. regulators

Experience of
advising on the commercial implications of decisions

Experience of
considering different future scenarios, opportunities and risks to generate
creative solutions and operational plans


Knowledge of the
basis of other financial reporting metrics including EEV and Solvency II

Knowledge of life
and pensions products, markets and competitors

Knowledge of
financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks

Knowledge of IFRS
and UK GAAP accounting principles and their practical application

Knowledge of
relevant legal and regulatory requirements, and ability to adapt quickly to
changes and ensure these are implemented
