Accommodation and Welfare Manager

Our Kaplan Covent Garden School is located in one of London’s most fashionable areas, and is housed in a beautiful 18th century building, modernized for student use. It’s just a five minute walk to Covent Garden, and well connected to the rest of London. We offer a comprehensive range of English courses and are an official Cambridge exam centre.

We are now recruiting an efficient, organised individual with excellent people skills to take up the role of Accommodation and Welfare Manager. You’ll be based in Kaplan Covent Garden School with some time at London Leicester Square school and occasional attendance at other sites within the UK & Ireland. This is a key role within the schools, ensuring the provision of high quality accommodation options and services to overseas students studying with us. Your main responsibilities:

  • manage and develop the Accommodation & Welfare Department, ensuring that the standard of accommodation offered is high and student welfare is paramount
  • line manage the Accommodation & Welfare Team with responsibility for their professional development
  • ensure students are matched with a high standard of suitable homestay or residential accommodation
  • pro-actively seek out new accommodation options and to plan ahead for anticipated numbers and requirements
  • ensure students are issued with accurate accommodation confirmation documentation as soon as possible and that student queries and complaints are resolved efficiently
  • ensure all accommodation options are inspected regularly in line with internal and external guidelines
  • complete Safeguarding training up to advanced level and act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the school
  • co-ordinate, disseminate and maintain a suitable student welfare system within the school in conjunction with the Principal; including the care of students under the age of 18 and training other staff members in the school
  • monitor the wellbeing of students, actively seeking to resolve any issues or areas of concern
  • manage all external accommodation and transfer providers
  • be fully conversant with ISI, British Council, English UK and Internal regulations, guidelines and requirements ensuring that Accommodation & Welfare Department practices and documentation would satisfy any spot checks or full inspections at all times
  • co-ordinate and take part in the 24 emergency telephone rota ensuring all participants of the rota are fully trained and that there is cover at all times.
  • oversee payments to homestay hosts, assist in the development of accommodation budgets and run the accommodation service within budget
  • drive the delivery of the School Prevent Risk Assessment & Action Plan
  • co-ordinate activities related to *Prevent on behalf of the School including co-ordination of staff training
