A fantastic new opportunity has become available working for an International organisation expanding in to the UK market as an Academic Lead located within London.

Reporting to the newly appointed Managing Director, the Academic Lead is a pivotal role which will support the organisation in defining and delivering it's long term vision and growth ambitions within the UK.

The role is initially responsible for supporting the business development process to secure new University partnerships by providing academic credibility. The role will then naturally evolve and focus on establishing and leading the UK academic team, with the ultimate objective to develop and deliver high quality academic programs.

As the most senior Academic person within the UK business, this is an extremely exciting opportunity to stretch your academic experience and knowledge within a commercial environment, whilst being an integral part of building the UK operation.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide academic credibility and support to the business development process and progressing potential partnership opportunities
  • Take a proactive role in promoting our clients' brand in the UK market
  • Establishing and driving the culture and values of the UK office in accordance with their International office
  • You will establish and lead the UK Academic team with the ultimate goal to develop and delivery of high quality academic programs
  • Responsible for ensuring that programs delivered meet the accreditation and agree pedagogic guidelines
  • Responsible for the oversight of the design and delivery of all of the units within assigned programs
  • Attend sales meetings / presentations along with the MD and other stakeholders
  • Provide information and guidance to tender responses
  • Develop key industry relationships through attending industry events, professional bodies and peer organisation to ensure programs are industry relevant and competitive
  • Contribute to setting the short term and long term operations plans
  • Act as the primary academic point of contact for all active and potential partners
  • Work with partners to establish and maintain academic functions and processes
  • Overarching responsibility for developing and delivering high quality courseware based on industry best practice, and implement these processes
  • Ensure the integrity of assessment procedures and manage the quality assurance of all academic programs
  • Regularly evaluate and analyse online practices and delivery methods
  • Learning Design - Review materials, identify steps required, contribute to the development and ongoing review of the process of programs
  • Learning Delivery - Lead and inspire a team of coordinators to achieve excellent results
  • Provide ongoing support to coordinators
  • Program Management - Develop and maintain oversight of the program delivery schedules
  • Oversee the development, implementation, marketing and moderation of all assessments in assigned units
  • Ensure results are submitted, collated and endorsed
  • Quality Assurance - Review student results, identify and respond to issues

Person Specification

To be considered for this opportunity, our client does require the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • A post graduate degree in the relevant program field and a PhD or significant completion towards a PhD
  • Extensive experience within tertiary course preparation, preferably within an online environment
  • Teaching experience within a tertiary environment using a range of methods and tools including online
  • Evidence of a strong student centric approach to teaching and learning
  • Ability and desire to work within a commercial environment
  • Ability and desire to support business development activities including client presentations and pitch meetings
  • Demonstrated experience of building, leading and developing high performance teams
  • Ability to establish, lead and rive a culture that maximises employee engagement and innovation
  • Strong collaborative style and relationship building skills
