About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Desk Technician to join the First Line support team within the Group IT department. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing front line IT support to users who contact the service desk via telephone, support ticket, online chat, as well as other methods. The candidate will be able to quickly identify the cause of the issue being reported, and follow established processes and SOPs to achieve the desired outcomes, escalating issues requiring further diagnosis or extended time to resolve to the technical support teams. You will also be able to speak effectively to non-technically minded staff across the globe to guide them through troubleshooting steps in order to resolve system problems and diagnose hardware and software faults. Other responsibilities of the role include:

• Processing of various users requests such as for hardware, accounts, and security

• Working well within a busy team, but also use own initiative where required

• Providing extended hours cover on a shift rota basis (after sufficient experience is gained)

• Supporting the Service Desk Manager in achieving set team objectives

The ideal candidate will:

Coming with a strong interest in IT and a hunger to learn, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will also be proficient in the day to day usage of Windows 7 and 10, as well as Microsoft Office 2010, 2013 and 2016.

Desirable skills

Training and guidance will be provided, and you will pick up many skills while in this role, however experience of IT support within a manufacturing environment would be beneficial, as would any of the following skills:

• IBM (Lotus) Notes

• Apple Mac OSX Experience

• Office 365 (for business) Experience

• ITIL Certified (To at least foundation level)
