1st Line Support Engineer

Are you looking for an opportunity to work for a leading technical firm in Cambridge?  Due to expansion our client, an internationally recognised brand, is looking for a 1st Line Support Engineer to join their Support team.  If you are looking to build a career in a business that enables you to learn more about technology whilst offering training and progression then this opportunity could be for you.

You will be working as a 1st Line Support Engineer on a cutting-edge platform that unlocks the world of apps, video, music, games and other content that brings smartphones to life.

Working as a 1st Line Support Engineer you will be:

- Dealing with incoming queries and resolving client issues
- Undertake planned/scheduled activities in line with Operational procedures
- Execute event and analyses reports for various stakeholders
- Escalate issues to 2nd and 3rd line support
- Make recommendations on how to improve system monitoring, performance, processes and procedures
- Log and document all issues & communication via operational tools, web, email and phone
- Actively communicate status if issues & events, tracking actions to ensure appropriate audit trail is in place
- Working 24/7 shifts

Essential skills required for 1st Line Support:

- Highly motivated individual who understands the importance of your role to the success of the team.
- Have a ‘Can do’ proactive attitude and demonstrating an eagerness to learn and acquire new skills and experience.
- Ability to work within a shift 24/7 environment

Desirable skills:

- Understands the basic principles of networking, protocols and associated technologies such as: OSI layer model, IP, TCP/IP, routing and switching, WANs, LANs)
- Understands the causes and consequences of system failure including load balance and storage protocols and responds appropriately
- Understands the architecture of a typical business IT system, including hardware, OS, server, virtualisation, middleware and applications
- Understands the importance of service level agreements, standards and/or agreed response times and operates within these parameters
- Understands and operates effectively in the business environment and responds to business issues
- Ability to communicate effectively with international partners
