About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school we are supporting in Southport. This role involves working closely with a child who has special educational needs, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum and thrive in the school environment. The position requires patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to learning and behaviour support.
Key Responsibilities
You will work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning plans, adapt classroom activities, and offer emotional and academic support throughout the school day. Building a trusting relationship with the child will be essential, as will maintaining clear communication with staff and parents to monitor progress and wellbeing.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children with special educational needs is essential for this role. We are seeking someone who can demonstrate a strong understanding of SEN strategies and who is confident in managing a range of needs, including communication difficulties, sensory sensitivities, and behavioural challenges. Relevant qualifications in special educational needs or teaching support are desirable and will be considered favourably.
