Prospero Teaching are working with an outstanding Primary School in the Gateshead area who are looking for 1:1 Teaching Assistants to start ASAP on either a full-time or part-time basis, to start from September 2024.

Are you a passionate, proactive and caring individual who is looking to make a positive difference to the lives of children? If so, we would love to hear from you today!

Prospero Teaching are looking for an inspiring, enthusiastic and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEN in one of our excellent Secondary Schools in North Tyneside. The role is to start in September and is full-time, 08.30-15.30 Monday to Friday for the full Academic Year. For the right candidate, there is the strong possibility of the role becoming permanent.

There are opportunities to support pupils across KS1 and KS2 who have SEN and require 1:1 support in their lessons to help them to engage with their learning. The role will involve supporting the pupils with their learning on a 1:1 basis, so the successful candidate will need to be a resilient practitioner and have excellent relationship-building skills.
The role will involve supporting the pupils during all of their lessons, and communicating effectively with Class Teachers to ensure appropriate strategies are used that are suited to the individual needs and learning styles of the pupils to allow them to engage with their learning and make excellent all-round progress. The role will also involve supervision at break times and lunchtimes.
The school is a brilliantly supportive, inspiring, and enjoyable environment for both students and staff. This is a role that will give you the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of children every day.

This role will involve:
· Supporting a pupil with SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis.
· Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
· Building and maintaining positive relationships with Class Teachers to support the pupil and discuss/implement strategies to promote pupil progress.
· Preparing resources for learning activities and lessons.
· Supervising pupils at break times and lunch times as required.
· Having a "hands on" approach to supporting the pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage and form a positive rapport with the pupil.
· Liaising with parents and outside agencies to discuss progress as required.

This role requires:
· An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
· Ideally a recognised Childcare-based qualification, although again, this is not essential.
· An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
· A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
· Experience of supporting pupils in a School setting.
· Ideally experience of 1:1 Support within a School setting
· High levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with pupils.
· A genuine passion for supporting young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
· An enthusiastic approach and a willingness to engage with and form positive relationships with pupils.
If you are interested in the role and would like to be considered, please apply for the role promptly as the school are looking for staff to start as soon as possible.
