Description
What’s covered in this workshop?
Through this workshop, you’ll learn how to gain the commitment of others, identify those who add value to your organisation, and give them the tools to succeed – which is the bedrock of leading others toward success. You’ll master critical communication and management skills to effectively manage employees, establish priorities, and delegate responsibilities. Further to this, you’ll learn to identify the leadership values important to you and expertly communicate these to your team. We’ll teach you to be steadfast in your knowledge about the results you want to achieve, the environment you want to create, and how to develop talent. You’ll become an effective leader with the ability to build relationships and manage workplace communications in order to be heard and understood by others.
Key outcomes
- Align the work of your team with the goals of the organisation to achieve desirable results
- Focus how you will address work and the efforts of others by successfully managing time, prioritising tasks, and effectively delegating responsibilities
- Build and maintain productive relationships through impactful communication approaches from listening effectiveness to assessing and appropriately reacting to what you heard
- Assess the effects of your communication behaviours and the influence on others
- Demonstrate assertive communication skills and how to maintain positive rapport during difficult conversations
Why are effective leadership skills important?
Firstly, leadership is a crucial role, responsible for crucial tasks. They translate strategy into action, set goals and direction, give focus to long-term activities and root daily work in the bigger picture. On the other hand, considering leadership is rooted in interpersonal skills, leaders set the tone. They shape the workplace culture, create safe spaces (or toxic ones) and demonstrate how others are expected to work.
Secondly, leaders aren’t always born. Developing leadership skills where they are only burgeoning or non-existent is important for effective succession planning, which in turn is key for:
- Identifying and filling skills and capability gaps
- Replacing subject matter experts and their niche capabilities
- Retaining and transferring mission-critical knowledge to new employees
- Avoiding the impacts of vacant roles and neglected strategic responsibilities
