Description
On completion of this course you will feel you have gained a greater knowledge of mental health in the workplace and how you can support yourself and those around you. You will consider the overall concepts of mental health and well-being, as well as looking at the risk factors that are most associated with potential mental health problems. You will also be able to take into consideration how employers and employees can care for mental health and well-being in the workplace and the legalities for caring for staff in work.
In this course you will learn what the responsibilities are from both employers and employees in relation to safety, equality and diversity, discrimination, bullying and harassment and conflict.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

- Unit 1 - Introduction to health and well-being in the workplace- In our first unit you will consider the overall concepts of mental health and well-being. The Unit will finish with considering how employers and employees can care for mental health and well-being in the workplace.
- Unit 2- Types of mental ill health part 1- In this first part you will consider the different kinds of mental health conditions, including an overview of what they are, what might cause them and what their impact on an individual and their life might be.
- Unit 3 -Types of mental ill health part 2- In this unit we continue to explore the different types of mental ill health. The types we will cover include; stress, bipolar, depression and more throughout this unit.
- Unit 4 - Social Well-being- This unit will give an overview of some of the ways in which employees can stay safe at work as well as covering responsibilities of both employer and employee. You will end this unit knowing how to build and maintain a good work-life balance.
- Unit 5 - Accessing support - In this unit you will have learned how to access support within an organisation and how employees are supported whilst in work and how they are supported to return to work if they have to take a period of sick absence. You will also consider the importance of one-to-one meetings with managers and how employees can be supported to stay well within the workplace such as with training and workshops about mental health..
- Unit 6 - Making reasonable adjustments - In this unit you have considered the kinds of reasonable adjustments that organisations can make so that their employees are able to work safely without detriment to their mental or physical well-being.
- Unit 7 - Health and safety - In this unit you will have considered the importance of health and safety in the workplace by looking at the policies that employers should have in relation to mental health and well-being and how risk assessments should be carried out to ensure that all employees are safe.
- Unit 8 - Healthy lifestyles - In this final unit you have examined how employees can sustain a healthy lifestyle including how to eat healthily and how much they should exercise, you have also considered the negative impacts of drugs and alcohol and how lack of sleep can impact an employees ability to function.
