Description

Learning outcomes

  • You will know who you may need to work with in a childcare setting, such as speech therapists and safeguarding agencies
  • You will understand best practice in partnership working and effective communication
  • You will understand the importance of working together to safeguard children, what information you can share with others, and when to bring in other professionals to protect the wellbeing of the child
  • You will know how to include parents in the setting and how to build supportive relationships with them

Advantages of this course

  • Whilst at work, you will spend a good many hours each day in the company of other adults. It is important, therefore, that every member of the team makes an effort to ensure that the relationship they have with each person is positive and respectful. This course outlines the characteristics of effective teams and makes suggestions for creating a positive working environment.
  • Partnership working can often throw up issues about confidentiality and when you can, and should, share personal information about a child or their family. This course will present the current guidance on information sharing for practitioners working with children, young people, parents and carers.
  • A crucial aspect of supporting a child with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability is partnership working. Often, you will need to include other professionals (such as GPs and physical therapists) in the care the child receives and working with parents becomes critical to ensuring positive outcomes. This course will provide advice and guidance on working with parents of children with SEND and the different professionals you may need to talk to.
  • In the Activity section of the course, you will be given an opportunity to react to different scenarios and consider the best actions to take when you have concerns about a child or young person
  • Additional activities encourage you to reflect on your learning
  • There is also suggested extended reading that gives both practical information and links to websites to expand knowledge

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Laser e-Certificate (included in the course price).
