Overview

The Worker Protection Act 2023 places a positive duty on employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, and at a tribunal those steps are exactly what you are judged on.

This practical online course is designed for HR directors, people partners, line managers, and senior leaders. Through an immersive, decision-based scenario, you'll learn to spot early harassment risk, take documented preventive action, and build a defence file that stands up to cross-examination.

Ideal for employers and HR teams looking to prevent harassment and evidence the steps they took.

Description

The Worker Protection Act 2023 amends section 40A of the Equality Act 2010 to require employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment at work. This interactive course provides practical, scenario-based training to help HR and managers understand their responsibilities and confidently build the preventive record a tribunal expects.

Rather than learning through slides alone, you'll take part in a realistic scenario where your decisions influence the outcome. Working through eighteen months in the life of one employer, from a banter line at the Christmas party to tribunal cross-examination, you'll choose how to respond to each incident, decide what to record, and see every choice become an exhibit that is scored against the EHRC seven-step guidance.

During this course, you'll learn how to:

  • Apply the reasonable-steps duty under section 40A of the Equality Act 2010
  • Spot early harassment risk and act before it escalates
  • Take and document preventive steps that hold up as evidence
  • Map your response to the EHRC seven-step technical guidance
  • Address third-party harassment risk within the workplace
  • Assemble a defence file that survives tribunal cross-examination

Course features:

  • Immersive, decision-based learning with multiple possible outcomes
  • Realistic case files, supporting documents and practical activities
  • Voiced narration and realistic case files
  • Interactive defence-building exercises
  • Approximately 3 hours of self-paced online learning
  • Developed by Blend Training and reviewed by qualified UK employment law professionals
