About this Course This course explores how to become an English teacher and travel the world while getting paid to do it. We will investigate What you need to be a English teacher in a non-English speaking country How to organize to live in a foreign country Where the jobs are How to find and apply for a job What the conditions are like What a ESL teacher actually does How to prepare classes How to teach children, teenagers and adults How to reach on-line to foreign students Basic knowledge If you have a Year 12 level of English in an English speaking country, you already have the most important qualification that is needed Others from non-English speaking locations will need a strong understanding of English at about Upper Intermediate level or better Having a University degree is a big help as it opens more doors, but it is not 100% necessary You will need a sense of adventure, and a strong sense of independence. It will be a great help if you are reasonably computer literate

The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

What is an ‘endorsed’ course?

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body’s logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as ABC Awards and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
