These skills will be gained by increasing the your knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions and the principles of mental health first aid and how this can be implemented in the workplace.

Description

There are 3 units in this qualification

1. Exploring mental health

In this unit, you will understand terms like 'mental health' and 'mental ill health' and the factors that contribute towards these. You will understand the types of mental ill health in individuals and the actions to take when an individual is facing a mental health crisis.

2. Understand how to support individuals with mental ill health

In this unit, you will understand the importance of positive relationships and taking a person-centred approach to supporting mental ill health. You will know your own responsibilities and limitations in relation to the mental health of others and how to protect your own mental health when supporting others. Lastly, you will understand the impact of attitudes and perceptions of mental health for individuals and organisations.

3. Understand a mentally healthy environment

In this final unit, you will understand the legislative framework relevant to mental health. You will understand mentally healthy environments. Lastly, you will understand the importance of having a wellness action plan.

Who is this course for?

This qualification is suitable for people who wish to raise awareness of mental health, creating a culture of care and the promotion of positive mental health. This qualification gives learners the opportunity to understand mental health, its associated care and how this can be applied to colleagues in the workplace

Requirements

No previous qualifications required. Eligibility for funding requirements do exist; you must be aged 19+, have lived in England for the last three years, have not completed this qualification before. The funding is available in most areas however the areas it is not available are -
